A Brooklyn-based food pantry hopes a new cookbook with 50 ways to make a traditional Rosh Hashanah carrot dish generates some green for those in need.

Alexander Rapaport, executive director of Masbia soup kitchen, asked celebrity chefs to share their recipes for tzimmes, a carrot cuisine made with honey.

The old-school culinary delight is typically served on Rosh Hashanah, starting Wednesday night, as a symbol for a sweet new year. People who contribute to Masbia will get a copy of the booklet, Rapaport said.

“Tzimmes is an old-time Jewish food that is in dire need of a facelift,” said Shoshana Turin of Cooking in Heels.

“My tzimmes brisket takes all the flavor of tzimmes and mixes it together with warm spices, persimmon and rich meaty flavor to balance it out and bring this classic dish to the next level.”

Masbia has two locations in Brooklyn and one in Queens where it serves more than 500 kosher meals each night. The soup kitchen is funded with government grants and private donations.
