Rochie Pinson: Please Sign Up to Give Charity to Masbia Weekly and Receive My Challah Cookbooks

“As you light your Shabbos candles, as you braid your challah, think about how much you would give to help feed another family as you serve your family their meal every Shabbos. For $3 a week you get my cookbook, “The KIDS Book of Challah”. If you go a little bit more, for $7 a week, you’ll get both cookbooks, “The KIDS Book of Challah” and “Rising: The Book of Challah”. In addition, you’ll have the gift of knowing that you are giving to so many others along with your own family. Please join now and feed the needy at Masbia, weekly.” – Rochie Pinson

About Masbia:

I am here at the Masbia headquarters in Boro Park. I just spent the most incredible day and it was so beautiful to see the incredible work that they are doing, feeding thousands of people literally in multiple communities, from people all across the spectrum, and the dignity and respect that each person is given. The food is prepared so beautifully. I was able to serve people in the soup kitchen who came for dinner and was served a beautiful, 3-course meal. It was served with such love and kindness. I was able to see the food pantry, where there are shelves stocked with every basic a person might need. I helped pack bags that went out to single mothers who are not even able to come and pick up the food themselves. Masbia worries about every single person, and makes sure that there are DoorDash guys coming to pick up deliveries and bring it straight to their door. Last time I was here at Masbia, which was during the COVID craziness, and there were lines snaking around the block, going miles long, and every single person was treated so beautifully. Then they came up with this incredible system, where everybody can sign-up and get a five minute slot. You go into a little room and it’s so beautifully done. There’s a table set up with all the pantry needs and you can choose just like you’re going shopping, you choose what you need and it’s just such a beautiful, kind way to serve people in need. It was just a real gift to spend this time with Masbia, with Alex, and see the whole operation. Everybody giving their whole heart and soul to feed people in need. I can’t think of a better place to give your charity, to give tzedakah. It is a real gift for us to have this opportunity to give to others and I feel privileged to be a part of this, to be a partner in some way with Masbia. It is a real gift to me and I want to offer this gift to all of you.

My Cookbooks!

Kids love challah!

This is the brand new Kids Book of Challah. Here’s an opportunity to have a challah adventure with your entire family. Get the kids in the kitchen and everybody can have some fun while doing this beautiful mitzvah of challah. At masbia, I did a little bit of a demo of a recipe, demonstrated here, by one of the children models in the book. And every single recipe in this book was made by actual kids, so it can be done. You can have the challah dough ready, give it to the kids, and from any age they can make these recipes by themselves. In this book, you and your family will learn baking terms to which tools to use to kneading and rising techniques, and you’ll learn everything you need to know to take your challah to the next level. This book features:

When you give a $3 weekly gift to Masbia, which feeds so many, you are going to get a gift beyond the gift of giving. You are going to get a copy of my new cookbook, “The Kids Book of Challah” and a way to bring your children and your whole family together into the kitchen to show them the joy of Shabbos, and bring that into the home.

For $7 a week – or more – you will get a copy of both my cookbooks – the first one, Rising! The Book of Challah, and the new one, The KIDS Book of Challah – and I can’t wait for it to become a part of your home, a part of your Shabbos. I am so excited to be a partner with you and with Masbia. In this book I share the experiences and insights that I gleaned on during decades spent perfecting the art of challah baking and teaching challah workshops around the world. In my wise, warm, and humorous voice, I guide you through every step of the rewarding process of making challah. This book includes:

Section I: The Story of Challah.

Section II: The Cookbook.

Section III: Laws & Customs of Challah.

My Day Volunteering at Masbia!

Hi everyone! I’m Rochie Pinson, author of the cookbook, Rising! The Book of Challah, and the brand new, Kids Book of Challah. I am here at the Masbia headquarters in Boro Park. I just spent the most incredible day helping Masbia do their beautiful, humanitarian work. I feel so uplifted by the beauty and the dignity in the way that they serve and offer the food to those in need. So Masbia worries about every single person, and makes sure that there are DoorDash guys coming to pick up deliveries and bring it straight to their door. More than that, there is a dedicated pantry where people can come and “shop” and take whatever they need. There’s something new that Masbia’s doing that I haven’t seen before, which really overwhelmed me with how dignified and respectful it is of those who come to gather food from the pantry. Once upon a time, there were lines snaking around the block, and people had to wait in those lines to get their food. Today there is a new system. Masbia has an automated, digital system where people can sign on, get a 5 minute slot, and enter into the pantry by themselves (four people maximum in their slot) and they are presented with a table full of pantry ingredients. They can then fill up their own shopping bags and leave with their dignity intact and with their stuff. So, I am truly honored to be included in Masbia’s mission.

Masbia is not just another charity. Masbia is an opportunity to partner with people who are dedicated with their whole lives and all their souls, to feeding those in need and giving them the dignity that they deserve. To come home and be able to feed their children. To sit down to a cooked meal. All these things that we take for granted and Masbia does not. They understand that there are people out there who don’t have the gifts that we have; who don’t have the blessings of a stocked pantry and a full fridge to come home to. Each person who is served at Masbia is served with such love and respect. It is truly an honor to be a partner with Masbia.
