2021 NYC AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate Program

Are you passionate about fighting hunger and poverty? Join Hunger FreeAmerica for 10 weeks this summer (June 21st- August 30th) as a full-time summer Associate in NYC!

Applicants must be 18+ by the start date. There is no education requirement. Summer Associates will earn a bi-weekly living allowance of $829.36 and the choice between an education award – $1,342.86 or a cash award – $345.80 at the end of their service. Bilingual applicants encouraged to apply.

Summer Associates will help spread the word on child nutrition programs and summer meals in New York City. Summer Associates will work with local partners and volunteers in targeted neighborhoods – at farmers’ markets, parks, summer meal sites, food pantries, and more. Summer Associates will also conduct virtual outreach such as phone banking. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in connecting with New Yorkers over food. Summer Associates must be comfortable spending long hours on their feet outdoors and interacting with the public. The ideal candidate will be friendly, outgoing, and comfortable traveling by public transportation. Bilingual skills are a plus but not necessary.
